Mary Cantwell

Mary, a Manhattan native, has been the Director of the London-based Garden House School of New York for the better half of the last two decades. Specializing in curriculum development, mentoring new teachers through classroom modeling, and parent partnerships, Mary brings her warm and unparalleled style to Enriched. A Fordham University alumnae, Mary started her career as a reading specialist in the New York City public school system at an elementary school in East Harlem and then a middle school in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Passionate about utilizing multi-sensory instruction for all types of learners, she is also a successful private tutor. In the spring of 2020, Mary discovered that a multimodal approach can successfully translate virtually, and children are capable of academic gains beyond the classroom setting. As a life-long learner, Mary enjoyed the time she spent teaching at the Hunter College School of Education and continues to participate in development opportunities whenever possible. She is proud and happy to report that her daughter, Ava, a graduate of the Spence School and currently enrolled at Bucknell University, aspires to work with children in the future.
